The Project:
Even from the planning stage of the project it was clear that future proofing would be crucial. There was no power at this side of site and so we discussed whether the customer wanted a supply pulling in for an MCCB distribution board to not only allow us to install a smaller DB for this project but also install bigger power machinery in future years. This suggestion was quickly agreed with and so we began to spec cable sizes, protective devices needed and routes/containment sizes.
When the time came our team then pulled in the cable through a very tricky route from the on site sub-station to the far side of site where the new DB was going to be located. Not even a bit of sideways snow stopped us!
Once that was in, we then mounted the MCCB board and a three phase consumer unit next to it, both of which we decided to locate inside stainless steel enclosures to provide us with the IP protection required.
While all this was going on we also had the task of designing the control panel to suit the needs of the customer. This involved incorporating tank levels, automated valves, pumps, traffic light systems and batch controllers to monitor and regulate the flow of oil.
All of this, as well as providing a containment route around the bund wall to neatly contain the cables, left us with a very happy customer.
